Publisher retires October 1, 2026
On October 1, 2026, Microsoft 365 stops supporting Publisher — and the .pub files on your computer become very hard to open. Microsoft's advice is to convert them one file at a time, by hand. If you have a folder with years of newsletters, flyers, and bulletins, start by finding out what you actually have.

What this does
Point it at a folder and it reads every .pub file locally — title, author, dates, page count — straight from the file's own embedded metadata. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Every file gets a recommendation — convert now, review, or archive — based on how recently it was really touched, so a 400-file folder becomes an afternoon's plan instead of a panic.
Download the whole inventory as a CSV: open it in Excel, split the work with a volunteer or coworker, and check files off as you convert them.
